Why You Need To Rent A Catamaran In The Turks And Caicos

The Turks and Caicos Islands are recognized worldwide for their clear blue waters and picturesque white sand beaches. Most people who decide to visit these amazing islands will spend their time lounging, playing in the water, and soaking up the sunshine. Although I love doing absolutely nothing and laying on the beach all day, this can sometimes get a little old. If you feel the same way, then getting a catamaran to rent for the day should be on your list! Read on to find out exactly what this type of rental will get you and why it’s one of my top travel highlights ever!

So what do you get when you rent a catamaran to take you around the Turks and Caicos coastline? A whole day of fun and experiences you will remember for the rest of your life! We booked ours through Island Vibes Tours which is based out of Providenciales, and were not disappointed! Along with an awesome boat, charismatic crew members passionate about their jobs, and a fully functioning bathroom (wait until you find out where it is haha!), you also get to go…

Fishing:

If deep sea fishing is your thing then this tour has got you covered! You get to learn about different types of fish, the most desirable catch being the wahoo, and experience the excitement when you here the lucky words, “Fish on!”. Make sure you book in advance though as you need to get fishing licences for this particular activity.

Snorkeling:

The Turks and Caicos is home to the third largest coral reef in the world, and you get to snorkel it! You will be guided through the coral reef and learn about all the different types of marine life you see below the surface. And of course, you get time to take some photos (note my featured image). All the equipment is included and you’ll learn a ton about the fishy friends you’re sharing the ocean with.

Swimming (with a water slide & diving board!):

After snorkelling, you get to stay in the water and explore! With boats equipped with a diving board and water slide, everyone will have a great time. If you’ve never swam in deep ocean water before (like me), it may take a few minutes to shake your anxiety, but it’s definitely worth it. Nothing makes you feel more swanky than jumping off your private diving board, or tanning on the roof of your catamaran in the middle of the ocean. Not going to lie, I felt like a Kardashian (and it was totally awesome!!).

Iguanas!:

Little Water Cay, more commonly known as Iguana Island, is your next stop on this tour. You get to explore around, see giant iguanas, watch the crew clean conchs, and of course, admire the water. I had never seen water so blue in my life, and it makes perfect sense that Victoria’s Secret models do photo shoots on this island.

A Delicious Lunch:

After all this activity, you are sure to have worked up quite the appetite (or at least I did). The crew make fresh conch salad, sandwiches, and other snacks for you to eat on the way home. You also get unlimited rum punch the entire day… Just try not to drink more than 5 glasses or you turn into a “jackass” as the crew members told us. HAH!

This rental was definitely the highlight of my trip to the Turks and Caicos and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The activities stated above are what me and my family chose to do, and you can customize your day so everyone is happy! Catamaran rentals are a unique activity to try with family of friends and they can accommodate up to 20 people on certain boats (spring break anyone?). With a group of friends and the unlimited rum punch, everyone is bound to have a great time. Talk about a party!

I am in no way affiliated with Island Vibe Tours. This rental was paid for by my family and I had such a great time I wanted to share it with you all!

Such a Little Dream for me… The beach looks so stunning and the the water is wonderful ! Under the sea, down where it’s wetter, you find coral reefs teeming with life, Nemo’s cousins, lots of fish, plants, and beautiful colours… It is so amazing ! Definitively on my bucket list.

Sign me up! It’s definitely something we would do when visiting Turks and Caicos. My husband is a sailor but he refuses to do “cruising” as he likes ocean racing.. how unfair is that?! Just joking, I can appreciate he wouldnt have a restful time so hiring a boat would be the perfect compromise

Beautiful pictures! I’ve only been to the Caribbean once before, and that was part of a cruise. This looks far preferable to the crowded beach by the port we spent our one afternoon at. This is way more how I pictured the islands looking.

Wow, looks like a reall amazing experience. And that water is so clear. Gorgeous. I like the idea of taking the time to snorkel and explore. For a split second I thought the image of the Iguana was what you ate! And then I read it a bit more carefully. Lovely images too.
